Why it earns a place. The strongest craft in the founding set. The type is the hero and the video is a plate behind it — an inversion most sites never attempt.

What it costs. One distinctive condensed face and ruthless tracking discipline. Half-executed it looks like a stock template with big text. This is the hardest entry in the library to pull off.

The move. Video of an actual station module on the factory floor, engineers in bunny suits working around it. Heavy tight-tracked sans, bottom-left, over the brightest part of the frame. A pause control and "Watch full video" sit under it.

Why it earns a place. Every competitor in deep-tech is dark navy. This is white, and it is the page you remember. It says "we build real things" without a single abstraction, and the people in frame do the credibility work that a rendered graphic cannot.

Also good for healthcare — a clean, bright facility with real staff in it is the same argument a clinic needs to make.

What it costs. Real facility footage, and a facility worth filming. There is nowhere to hide: if the imagery is mediocre the whole page collapses.

The move. A shallow-focus photograph of actual printed lab data — axes, traces, annotations — used as the hero ground. Centred white type over it.

Why it earns a place. The imagery is the science rather than a metaphor for it. No abstraction, no stock, and it costs nothing to shoot if the output already exists on your desk.

Travels well. A clinic's charts, an accountant's models, an engineer's plots — any business whose work product is legible on paper can run this.

What it costs. Almost nothing, and that is the point. Requires only that the data be visually interesting at shallow depth of field.

Flaw worth noticing: the purple CTA is the one slop-adjacent note on the page.

The move. A six-across logo grid on pure black. Every mark rendered monochrome white, no card containers, no borders, generous even spacing, and logos of wildly different construction normalised to roughly the same optical size rather than the same bounding box.

Why it earns a place. This is the authority pattern done properly — US Air Force, ESA, JPL, DARPA, NIST, Thales, BAE Systems, Royal Navy, J.P. Morgan, LG. The restraint is what works: strip the colour, remove the chrome, and let the names carry it. Thirty-plus logos read as institutional weight rather than clutter.

Travels everywhere. Any business with credible affiliations — accreditations for a clinic, certifications for a trade, client marques for a consultancy.

What it costs. Nothing but permission and a careful hand at optical sizing — the one place this pattern usually fails.

Where it was found: one screen below a hero already in the library. This entry is the argument for full-page harvesting.

The move. A single luminous particle-field mark — an X built from points — alone in a very large navy void. Light, wide-tracked display type centred over it. A small uppercase SCROLL cue with chevrons at the base.

Why it earns a place. Closest thing to a house style for quantum PNT, and it shows how much a single artifact plus a lot of emptiness can carry.

Watch this one. The violet-into-cyan bleed sits one step from the purple-gradient tell. It survives only because it is a particle field rather than a background wash — the same colours applied flat would be slop.

Narrow on purpose: rated good-for: deep-tech only. Abstraction reads as evasive for a trades or clinical buyer who wants to see the actual thing.

The move. One unedited search for "dark landing page". Violet-to-blue gradients, glowing 3D orbs, floating glass cards, crypto-dashboard chrome — in nearly every tile.

Why it earns a place. This is the guardrail list with evidence attached. Nothing here is incompetent; it is all average, which is the actual failure mode, and it is precisely what a model reaches for when a brief does not name something better.

Use it directly. When writing the guardrails input of a brief, open this entry and enumerate what to forbid.

The move. The instrument itself, photographed against black with orange and blue rim light. Split hero — photo left, type right. A caption bar under the image names the thing: ATOMIC GRAVIMETER FOR MARITIME NAVIGATION.

Why it earns a place. This is the category convention, executed plainly, by MQ's closest competitor. Knowing the convention is what lets you decide to conform to it or break it.

Also good for trades — a well-lit photograph of the actual equipment is the same credibility move a plumbing or HVAC company can make.

What it costs. One good studio shot. Cheapest strong option in the library.

Flaw worth noticing: the body copy is justified, which opens rivers and cheapens an otherwise credible page. Do not copy that part.

The move. Star trails over a mountain ridge under a heavy teal wash, with the headline set in the same teal.

Why it is here as a weak entry. It is a direct competitor's live homepage, so it is worth knowing — but it is not a model. The teal is doing too much work, the headline colour fights its own background, and the proof-card row beneath is generic. The site was also serving broken images at capture time, logo included.

The lesson worth keeping: a landscape photograph with a single-colour wash over it is the most common way a deep-tech site becomes forgettable. Scenery is not a subject.

The move. A satellite over Earth's limb, full bleed. White headline and sub-head sit low-left directly on the image, with a solid blue CTA block beneath.

Why it earns a place. This is what MQ's procurement audience looks at all day. The register is the thing, doing its job, in the real world — safe, legible, and exactly what a government buyer expects to see.

What it costs. One excellent photograph or render of the product in operation. The whole page rests on it.
